Favoutite Movie!

Hi Guys
read thru all ur posts. Interesting to see ppl like vijay who is not very comfortable talking in front of a crowd (but chatty among friends), talking so much on such imp issue! keep it up vijay! i do agree with some of his points (but 75 lines and still more???). but vijay when life doles out major problems human survive it because of hope and belief in God is a kind of hope! iam talking from personal experience. so each one will learn something fr life. there are ppl like kamal, satyaraj (karunanidhi?) who continue to practice atheism. Only our religion gives room to atheists too. let's live and let live!

next topic on role model did not take off (less controversy)

i want u to tell me abt one movie that created a great impact in ur life - tamil, telugu, eng., hindi - anything. shd specify what was special. no story or review pls

nice suggestion by few of u to practice ur language skills. but one thing i wd like to remind u all is that this is an online blog where abbr and short forms are accepted. short forms shd be comprehensible to everyone. no need to worry abt capitalization here. but definitely NOT in answer papers. chill out guys why are u all sounding so serious and stuffy! the idea behind blogging is to enjoy and practice our language skills. that's it!
hoping to hear from u abt interesting movies! again let me remind u no stories or reviews.

Existence of God????

Hi
Last week Alwin's presentation on the existence of God gave rise to many questions. i would like to throw it open for discussion to every one on this topic. How many of us believe in God or a super power or no such belief. Pls give reasons for ur belief. this discussion is purely academic not to hurt any religious sentiments. hope everyone will use rational arguments not emotional

Book Review & Feedback

Hi guys,
I read all the reviews posted. I completely agree with Uday, if we cd do something worthwhile then it is best to do so. This kind of movies are for awareness. Visiting and helping such children should follow after such movies. That is up to us who shd take the initiative. As a teacher it is difficult for me to take all 38 to a place like that. But I can tell u from personal experience there are many places doing great jobs for special children. I was involved in a project where I visited schools like little flower convent, clarke’s school, udavum karangal, ajay school of deaf and st.louis. as part of NSS or any other programme we cd do something constructive or we cd do like uday in a small but significant way.
Krithika’s review was very poignant, identifying the high pts of the movie. Annie’s focused on the teacher’s part in the movie. Gomathi’s is more balanced review. Maheswari was very passionate in her review. Avvai… what did you mean by ‘fish out of water’? Pradeep raised a valid question about class playing a major role. His pt of view was that Ishaan belonged to upper middle class so they cd afford such boarding school and other enhancements. If he had been from lower class wd it have been possible? A point to ponder.
Sree’s short review (who’s dis) and uma’s detailed review were interesting to read. Who’s tamizh?– good review abt the movie. Sangeetha’s (weird online name!) review was very emotive and highlighted the high points of the movie. Most of the scenes referred are in connection with father which was very observant of the student. Pradeep’s & Prasad’s sweet and sincere comments, touching review by Ramya, Sangamithrai and Manjula made an interesting read. Satish seems to be confused abt the movie – nice or not? Vijay – you had to use the word ‘cool’, still u used lot more other words, so ok for now. Balasubramiam feels it is sacrilege to miss this movie. (is it really?)
Late reviews I’ll comment later.
This week pls select your book for review. The authors selected for review are
SIDNEY SHELDON, JEFFREY ARCHER, DAN BROWN, JAMES HADLEY CHASE.

HISTORY
History of the Department dates back to the 1950s when English was offered as a course in the first two years of the five year degree programme. With the formation of Anna University in 1978, the Department received greater recognition and status. It gained laudable significance in the publication of English course book English for Engineers & Technologists in two volumes in 1990 as a culmination of the KELT project. Another milestone in the history of the department is the establishment of Language Laboratory in 1989. In the year 2001, traditional Language Laboratory was upgraded to a computerised one. Language Lab was used to conduct international English Exams like TSE, TOEFL & ACCESS. The department has collaborated with State Institute of English, Government of Tamilnadu and organised training programmes for teachers in communicative language teaching and use of language laboratory. Department has been involved in production of materials which have won wide acclaim.
